Hi my name is Donna, my husband Jason and I moved to the Mid North Coast of Forster-Tuncurry in 2019.

After living on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, a gourmet food and wine region with everything at your fingertips. 30+ years for me and over 50 for Jason, we finally made a dream of ours to migrate North a reality.

​

We absolutely loved the change in every way, the warmth, the super friendly people and the stunning beaches. Our only regret was that we wished we had done it years ago!

 

I will admit I initially found it quite challenging to source, locally home grown organic produce and beautiful gourmet deli foods and wine in the area where we had moved to. Especially when it came to wanting to send a gift of this sort. 

 

However after a bit of googling, exploring, asking around, participating in our Great Lakes Food Trail and making a few phone calls I came across many gems. 

In our local region we have vineyards producing very nice wine varieties.

We have artisan bakehouses, passionate farmers, cheese makers, home based chef kitchens, a micro brewery and even a gin distillery!

So the thought came to me why don’t I combine some of these lovely products and create a gift hamper business with a focus on local, delicious, ready to eat and drink, Gourmet Food Hampers. 

​

I love to give gifts to others and make them feel happy. The desire to have more time at home and be my own boss as well as support my husband who has for many years worked physically hard as a builder (and I’d like him to slow down) motivated me to think about what I could do to combine all those things.

​

Thus came the creation of “HAMPERED by donna”.

​

I like to describe my business as boutique and pretty with an emphasis on simple and appreciated.

The desire is to support our local producers wherever possible and where I can’t, definitely Australian made. 

We have an amazing country that produces beautiful food and wine by creative talented and passionate people. 

​

I wanted to provide a gift that would be used and enjoyed rather than put in the cupboard for a “maybe one day I might use it” attitude.

It was important to me that the hamper be practical by providing things like a cheese board and a knife, and contain everything needed to enjoy straight away.

​
